FYI – Journey’s into Canada

Journeys is the largest mall-based customer for many industry shoe brands. Here are some comments from Shop-Eat-Surf


Journeys opened its first store in Toronto on May 1 and will open two more in the next few weeks.

The company is “very excited” about growth opportunities in Canada, Genesco CEO Robert Dennis said.

Canada is an “underserved market” and after Genesco’s positive experience in Canada with its hat chain, Lids, executives are “pretty excited about what we think our prospects are,” for Journeys there, Dennis said.

Skate performance

Journeys Group comps rose 2% in the quarter ended May 1, and its core skate business remained “solid.”
